2013 vacation schedule
Blue Sky Fitness & Recreation vacation trips are active, four/five day three/four night trips. The trip locations are unique and include some of the most beautiful environments in the world. Blue Sky Fitness & Recreation trips can be physically demanding. Most of the trips include at least one day of hiking. Those individuals who enjoy physical activity are encouraged to participate.
Cost for each trip includes all food, lodging, transportation, park fees, boating fees and staffing. Respite hours can be used to pay for trips. Respite hours do not cover the entire cost of the trip. Therefore, those using respite hours will need to pay up to an additional $330.00 to cover the cost of the trip. JANUARY 25 -28 Dana Point, California Cost: $750.00
Our annual whale watch trip features a whale watch tour aboard a small excursion boat departing from Dana Point, California. We hope to see the whale migration from the cold waters of Alaska to the warmer waters off the coast of southern California. This is a great trip to not only see the whales but also an opportunity to see a wide variety of sea life such as dolphins, sea lions and other wonders of the sea. We will stay in a cabin on the beach in Oceanside, California which is one of the many beach towns close to Dana Point. The cabin in Oceanside will allow us to participate in some excellent beach hikes.
FEBRUARY 22 – 25 Dana Point, California Cost: $750.00

MARCH 22 - 25 Palm Springs, California Cost: $750.00
Palm Springs is an excellent location for winter hiking activities. We will hike the Joshua Tree National Forest which is a great location to see some interesting rock formations as well as fantastic vista points. We will also hike in the Indian Canyon trail system which is just north of the Palm Springs area.
MAY 17 -21 Dolores, Colorado Cost: $850.00
This is a fishing trip that will include fishing activities at the McPhee Reservoir, Dolores River and West Fork River. The area is also rich in cultural and archeological sites such as the Mesa Verde National Park and the Canyons of the Ancients National Monument. The area contains the highest concentration of archeological sites in the nation. We will visit as many of these famous archeological settings as possible. This is a four night five day trip and we will stay in a cabin close to the town of Dolores.
JULY 26 - 29 Ruidoso, New Mexico Cost: $750.00
Ruidoso is well known for trout fishing in the streams and lakes throughout the area. It is also an excellent hiking location with a variety of hiking trails in the Lincoln National Forest. We will participate in both fishing and hiking on this trip in the high elevation of Ruidoso, New Mexico.
SEPTEMBER 27 - 30 Julian, California Cost: $750.00
Apple pie anyone? We will time this trip in order to participate in the famous Apple Days Festival that takes place in Julian every September and doesn’t end until the last apple is gone! This is a quiet, peaceful, historic town that is about one hour east of the Pacific Ocean. The area is abundant with fruit orchards and includes some fantastic hiking opportunities. This trip will include a visit to the Pacific Ocean for some beach activity as well as hiking and enjoying the Apple Days Festival.
NOVEMBER 15 - 19 Fort Davis, Texas Cost: $850.00
This will be a four night five day trip to western Texas that will include hiking, rock collecting and fishing activities. The Woodward Ranch will be our destination for rock hounding. This is a massive ranch that has allowed rock hounding on their property for many years and is an excellent opportunity to find some excellent agates, geodes and other fine rock specimens. There are small fishing holes scattered throughout this area of west Texas. We hope to have some good luck fishing in these isolated areas. Hiking opportunities are excellent with a variety of hiking trails located in the Davis Mountains just west of Fort Davis.
