2012 vacation schedule

Blue Sky Fitness & Recreation vacation trips are active, four day three night trips. The trip locations are unique and include some of the most beautiful environments in the world. Blue Sky Fitness & Recreation trips can be physically demanding. Most of the trips include at least one day of hiking. Those individuals who enjoy physical activity are encouraged to participate.

The cost of each trip is $750.00. Cost includes all food, lodging, transportation, park fees, boating fees and staffing. Respite hours can be used to pay for trips. Respite hours do not cover the entire cost of the trip. Therefore, those using respite hours will need to pay up to an additional $330.00 to cover the cost of the trip. JANUARY 27- 30 Dana Point, California Cost: $750.00

Our annual whale watch trip features a whale watch tour aboard a small excursion boat departing from Dana Point, California. We hope to see the whale migration from the cold waters of Alaska to the warmer waters off the coast of southern California. This is a great trip to not only see the whales but also an opportunity to see a wide variety of sea life such as dolphins, sea lions and other wonders of the sea. We will stay in one of the many beach towns close to Dana Point which will allow us to participate in some excellent beach hikes.

FEBRUARY 24 – 27 Dana Point, California Cost: $750.00

MARCH 30 - April 2 Lake Havasu City, Arizona Cost: $750.00

Believe it or not, this is the site of the London Bridge which was moved from London some years ago and brought to Lake Havasu City and rebuilt. We will observe this phenomena but more importantly, this will be a fishing and rock collecting trip. We will stay along the banks of the Colorado river and try our luck at river fishing. This area is known for its excellent collecting areas so we will explore the area for some nice rock specimens.

MAY 18 - 21 Idyllwild, California Cost: $750.00

Located just above Palm Springs, California, this high elevation community is where we will enjoy some excellent hiking in the San Bernardino National Forest. We will also have an opportunity to travel to the Joshua Tree National Forest which lay just beyond Palm Springs. This is a great area to explore and enjoy some climbing on the large boulder formations that are scattered throughout the park.

JULY 27 - 31 Ramah, New Mexico Cost: $850.00

Our lodging will be at the Oso Vista Ranch located in the Ramah Valley about two hours west of Albuquerque, New Mexico. This trip has been extended to four nights since there is just so much to explore in this area. The Ramah Valley is bordered by the Zuni and Ramah Navajo Reservations and features extraordinary beauty with its open prairies and pink buttes. We will visit El Morro National Monument for some extensive hiking and a look at some centuries old messages inscribed on the sandstone walls and rocks. We will also visit the Wild Spirit Wolf Sanctuary which is just a short drive away from our lodging.

SEPTEMBER 21 - 24 Greer, Arizona Cost: $750.00

This will be a hiking and fishing trip to Northern Arizona where the Autumn leaves should just be turning colors. We will stay in a cabin in the Apache Sitgreaves National Forest and enjoy some fishing in an area that is known for its excellent trout. The Greer area is also a tremendous area for high altitude hikes with some great vistas and splendid autumn colors.

NOVEMBER 16 - 19 Truth or Consequences, New Mexico Cost: $750.00

The area around Truth of Consequences, New Mexico is ripe for some good fishing in Elephant Butte Lake and is also an area filled with opportunities for rock collectors. We will do both of those activities. Also on the agenda is a trip to the White Sands National Monument. This is a unique area just outside of Las Cruces, New Mexico that features pure white sand dunes which you can slide down on plastic sleds. We will also take the five mile loop hike which winds through the dunes and offers some spectacular vistas.
